Tasting Notes- Color: Ruby-red with purple hues. Bouquet: Full and reminiscent of violets. Taste: Dry and smooth with zesty notes of cherry and berry fruit. (banfiwines)
Wine Folly: Very dry as it is supposed to be. High acidity and tannins as well, maybe a little thinner bodied than I would have accepted with a wine as dry as this. Definitely got the cherry and plum accents, and maybe I'm tricking myself, but the leather flavor as described on Wine Folly was present, possibly as a result of the high tannins and acidity.
Review: This is a very interesting wine. I initially had this by itself and it was quite dry. Almost two dry for a Wednesday afternoon. However, once I had paired it with a gourmet Stouffers Chicken Piccata, it certainly supported the wine at least a little bit. This wine would go very well with something with more tomatoes or red meat. I would definitely pair this with a nice steak and potatoes, or perhaps a hardier pasta. Would buy again all and all, especially now that I know what to expect out of a Chianti.
