Wine Tasting- Beliveau Chardonel
Varietal: Blend, mostly Chardonel supported with Vidal Blanc
Region: North Fork of Roanoke, Virginia
Vintage: 2019
Price: $24.00
Tasting Notes- A lightly oaked dry white blend that features notes of melon, honeysuckle, kiwi, and white pepper. (vinoshipper)
Wine Folly: I will be comparing this to Chardonnay as wine folly does not have a designated section for Chardonel; a blend of Chardonnay and Seyval. This was an oak aged Chardonel, however I did not detect much a woody flavor. Yellow apple was definitely noted. Definitely a semi-dry mouth feel but also very refreshing.
Review: This was from my winery tour of Beliveau winery here in blacksburg. The full post for the tour will come later. After having a flight of reds, buying this white was definitely a welcome change of pace. I tend to like dryer whites, and while this was designated as semi-sweet, it definitely erred on the dryer side. I definitely got the melon flavor as noted in the tasting notes. We had this with a charcuterie board with various cheeses, cured meats, and vegetables. Overall, a pretty nice bottle. My roommate and I savagely inhaled this bottle after finishing our flights. I have no regrets and definitely would like to see other wines produced at Beliveau.
