Intro to Boozin'

Let me be honest; my knowledge of wine is very surface level. Until now, consuming wine has been a rather unproductive process for me. My first sip of wine was most likely a champagne given to me by my grandmother on a festive New Years eve. When I was 16, I traveled with my family to Venice Italy where I purchased a Venetian Spritz; a wine cocktail made out of orange liqueur, prosecco, and bitters. That drink...that moment... was formative for my future of alcohol consumption. After consuming several glasses of the bitter beverage, I stumbled with brother to a Gondola, an American tourist shambling around canals. That moment would change my life FOREVER!

I am exaggerating tremendously here. It was a fun time, if anything, I had more fun just getting buzzed around my family. Still, wine has been a mainstay in my family. My mother specifically loves wine, reds are her favorite. Cabernet Sauvignon's are probably my favorite as that is also the kind I have had the most experience with. Growing up in Charlottesville, I have had the fortune of getting to know many of the local brews and wines produced here in central Virginia.

I look forward to expanding my pallet through this class. I enjoy food and drink and learning about such subjects. Being able to taste and identify the various flavors and scents of a wine would be a unique skill to gain. Wine is classy! It's a special drink and can be consumed casually or brought out for a nice event. I think it would be rather impressive to be able to look at the label of a wine bottle and already have an idea of what to expect from it. Not to mention, I can collaborate on various assignments with my friends. A great way to cap off my final year of undergrad. To conclude today's entry, here's a picture of me getting my Timb signed by none other than Frank Beamer.
