Wine Tasting- Sterling Vinter's Collection Cabernet Sauvignon

Image
Name-  Sterling Vitner's Collection Varietal - Cabernet Sauvignon Region - California, various vineyards Vintage - 2020 Price - 8.99 Tasting Notes:  Cocoa-berry aromas open the nose, complemented by toasty oak spices, plum, cherries and a touch of smoke and violets... succulent blackberry and Bing cherry flavors, accented by varietal notes of black pepper and espresso. Rich, dark chocolaty tannins escort the vibrant fruit into long finish. (Marketview Liquor) Wine Folley : Bold red color, certainly not the dryest of Cabernet Sauvignons but a strong finish. Definitely got a strong tang of Cherry, not as peppery as other Cab Sauv's I've tried.                                                                                 Review: It's a solid red wine! Maybe not my favorite but it gets the job done. I paired it with a homemade pot roast which actually did help bring out the flavors of the meal and wine. I like dryer wines and I'd say this was a decent find. Got hint

Wine Tasting- Acrobat Pinot Noir

Image
Name-  Acrobat Varietal - Pinot Noir Region- Rogue Valley, Oregon Vintage - 2019 Price - $38.00 (19.99 online) Tasting Notes:  The 2019 vintage is a brilliant example of Pinot Noir from a consistent and warmer than average Western Oregon growing season. In the glass, there is a garnet-colored center with bright ruby edges. The nose has rich, fruit-forward aromas of bright Bing cherry and raspberries, with hints of hazelnuts. The palate echoes with ripe strawberries and dark chocolate up front, followed by earthy and spicy notes of forest floor and clove. (Foley Food and Wine Society)                                                                 Wine Folly  : Very nice color, definitely on the lighter side as                                                                                      described  for an Oregon vintage. Pleasant tartness, did not get                                                                                 the herbal elemen

Cheese Tasting Uno- A New Hope

Image
Alright ladies and gentlefish, we have a Wine and Cheese pairing post that will absolutely knock your socks off. I had the great fortune to join a group of friends for a wine and cheese tasting bonanza this past Friday. Enlightening conversation was had, bonds were strengthened, but most importantly WINE AND CHEESE WERE CONSUMED.  Pictured here is our cheese board near the beginning the night. Starting clockwise we have a Port Salut, Drunken Goat Goat Cheese, a Cheddar (don't eat the wax), and a Smoked Gouda.  t To start, I had this here Marcel Rose. I have a very limited experience with Roses but I enjoyed this one quite a bit. It was quite sweet, I was getting lots of fruity flavors like pear and peach. We decided the Brie paired the best with this wine. Both were rather mild. With that being said, I feel this rose would go much better with a sweet desert. I enjoyed both independently of each other and would like to explore further pairing options with rose.  Next up to bat, we h

Wine Tasting- Pinot Grigio

Image
Name- Insomnia Varietal- Pinot Grigio Year- 2019 Region - Buelleton, California Price- 9.99 Tasting Notes-   A very ripe, sugary aroma leads to equally ripe-tasting pear, peach and apricot flavors and a rounded, smooth texture   (winemag) Wine Folly : Color looked just aboooooout right for a Pinot Grigio, got a bit of the peach flavor as described. Unfortunately, I was not blessed with the taste of gravel. I am disappointed because of that. Review: I had the great pleasure to be joined by fellow Wine enthusiast Trinity "The Rock" Jelinek in the tasting of this blessed drink. It was pretty good. Rather sweet, definitely missing the gravel. Would drink again.
